Managing National Statistics - Central Statistics Office Feature

The CSO is the principal data collecting, processing and disseminating agency responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supervising the National Statistical System. It thus has the statutory mandate to produce and provide government, the private sector, parastatal organisations, international organisations, the civil society and the general public with statistical information for evidence based decision-making, policy formulation and planning as well as investment purposes.

The CSO collects and collates data from several agencies in carrying out various surveys and producing various reports. For example, the Statistical Digests contain tables of the main social and economic statistics of Saint Lucia. The purpose of this publication is to provide data to business organizations, researchers, government departments and the general public on the economic and social trends of the Island. The Department gratefully acknowledges the contribution of all data suppliers.

Thus, as a data sharing and data using agency, we epitomize the theme "Our future, Our Journey, Our Data for National Development".

The Central Statistics Office has a very small subset of its data-holding shared on Saint Lucia Open Data; but also have a very well-populated website:
